Can I hire a car from you?
No. MST does not have its own fleet of hire cars.

Is catering provided?

You have the choice, we supply morning and afternoon tea on our programs. Participants can bring their own food and drink for lunch or for an additional fee we can provided catering for groups of 6 or more. Please let us know your preferred option when booking.

Where are the MST training venues?

Our Responsive Driving Programs, ATV Safety Programs, Specalist Driver, Practical Accessment Programs and 4WD Programs are held at Baskerville Park and Symmons Plains. Our other programs are held at various locations, either at schools, workplaces or at conference venues.

Do I need to do anything to prepare for my program?

The pre-program information should tell you what you need to do to prepare for the program. To prepare for practical driving programs, you need to make sure: you hold a full license; your vehicle is registered, insured and roadworthy; that there are no loose objects in the cabin; that you have checked the tyre pressure, oil, fuel, and water; you dress for the conditions (prepare for sun, wind and rain) and bring plenty of water and food for the day if it is a self catering program; and that you check that your tyres are in good condition and that they are inflated to the maximum recommended pressure. It is also a good idea to bring a pad, pen and a clipboard for making notes.

What sort of insurances do you have as a commercial training provider?

MST has all the insurances required by the Tasmanian Qualifications Authority (TQA) in respect of the Australian Qualifications and Training Framework (AQTF). Most importantly for clients, MST is covered by Public Liability and Professional Indemnity insurance to the value of  $100 million.

Can I get a refund if I cancel my booking?

Our usual policy is not to refund monies when people have booked a place in a course, but to transfer bookings to another date. We refund monies unequivocably when MST fails, for whatever reason, to provide scheduled programs without notice. Of course, when clients cannot reasonably reschedule their bookings we will refund monies paid, providing clients contact us before programs are conducted. Clients cannot negotiate refunds when they do not attend the program they were booked into. MST requires full payment for all programs 2 weeks prior to their commencement.

Which of your programs are accredited?

Only our 4WD programs lead to nationally recognised qualifications. All our other programs are, presently, non-accredited. However, all our programs are designed to meet recognised standards for instructional design, OH&S, road safety principles, the Tasmanian Driver Competancy Standard and adult teaching and learning.

How do I apply for RPL?

You can only apply for RPL in respect of our accredited 4WD programs. For details of how to apply refer to our Code of Practice.

Why do programs have different pricing?

The costs involved in delivering 4WD training are much higher than the costs in delivering programs for young drivers and their parents in a classroom. There is the cost of building and maintaining a 4WD range, the cost of supplying a 4WD with a winch, the cost of two facilitators, and the cost of purchasing and maintaining 4WD recovery equipment. All these costs make these programs more expensive.

Are you supported by government in any way?

Motor Safe Tasmania receives no government funding. We are a private, commercial provider of road user education and training programs.
